Warming Up a Winter Tipi Wedding

A tipi wedding in winter may not be for everyone but if you have always dreamed of an outdoor wedding during this time of the year, then a tipi affair is the ultimate choice. Planning it is not as much of a hassle as some may think. You just need to make sure your guests stay happy and warm throughout the event. Fortunately, there are several different ways to achieve that. Here are some of our recommendations:

Heaters

Heaters are arguably the best thing you can invest in at your tipi wedding in winter. Heaters act like mini bonfires and keep guests extremely cosy. See our range of heating options here.

Fire Pit

While having heaters pumping hot air in the tent is all well and good, but the glow of a real fire is actually what gives you that warm, fuzzy feeling on a frosty day. So, apart from setting up heaters, you should also consider fireplaces. You can set up cosy areas around the fireplaces for your guests.  You’ll find our options to warm up your event  here.

Having the Sides of the Tipis Closed

It is highly recommended that you make sure that the tipi has drop-down walls. It is only possible when the tipi is sufficiently large. The drop-down walls on the outside of the tent cut out windy drafts. As a result, your guests will be much warmer inside.

Blankets

Blankets are one of the best ways to keep your guests warm at your outdoor wedding. You can buy them in bulk or even include your own favorite throws and blankets. Place them rolled up in a large basket for your guests to take as they sit at the fireplaces. You can also use throws, pillows, and cushions to warm up furniture. In this way, if the furniture itself feels cold, your guests will have something to sit on.

Serving Toasty Food and Drinks

Carefully choose your menu and make sure that it includes lots of drinks and food items that will help the guests stay warm. Some recommendations include mulled wine, hot soup, Pimms, spiced cider, etc. Hot cocoa bar and whiskey tastings are also great choices. Hot chocolate is particularly great as a non-alcoholic option. Don’t forget to give your guests a portable, warm drink option, e.g. coffee, when they leave the event.

Tipi weddings in winters have their own unique charm. The cold weather transforms the pleasure of your wedding reception into a heart-warming, cheerful, and intimate event that will have everyone celebrating and smiling. Just make sure to follow the above-listed guidelines to add more layers of warmth to your outdoor wedding.  Above all, make sure that your guests know that it is a tipi wedding so they can dress appropriately.
